Faith When Fear Comes Calling

COVID-19: the phrase everyone is talking about—everything the news has been talking about. How have you been feeling due to this virus? Scared, anxious, maybe worried? Everyone has dealt with it differently. I have been worried about the health of my loved ones. I have been worried about losing family members who are too weak physically to fight this virus. It almost seems that there is nothing good left in this world.

Psalm 23:4 says, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” Our world is going through its version of the valley of the shadow of death, but this scripture says, “…I will fear no evil…” because He is with me—us. Even now, when some of us may think, “Why bring this virus, Lord?” He alone knows.

Our faith in these times should be ready and firm in the belief of our God. Fear is trying to take control of people and this world. Sadly, fear may be winning. But when God’s children rise and pray to Him, even now in our separate homes, it is a blow to Satan’s fear and the hold he has on the world. It is a blow so powerful that says, “Though we are not many, we will praise our God! The world is in trouble. But, I am healthy and alive so, I will use myself, my voice, to praise Him even now!” While we are in our homes away from each other, let us pray and praise because through Him, we are strong. Through Him, we are growing. Through Him, we will win back this world for our God!

Psalm 24:1 says, “The earth is the LORD’S, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.” The world is God’s only, as are we who live on this earth. We, as a Church, as a family, as God’s children, must rise and surrender the world to our Lord and Savior. He alone can heal the sick. He alone can cause the blind to see. And, He alone can make the lame walk. He is the answer for what to do in these times. But our faith must be strong.
