Into The Land of Promise

Psalm 37:1, 2 says:

“1 FRET not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. 2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.”

Wickedness and sin are ever present around us. In fact, they are blatantly shoved in the faces of Christians. The Holy Word is mocked to spite our God. Yet you are told not to fret; to do so would cause bitterness and hatred. You are not to fall into this trap of worry and trouble. Rather, you are to love your enemies. You are to love the lost and dying, not hate or despise them. For you to reach the lost you must overcome self-will, selfishness, and your thoughts and imaginations.

The Psalmist goes on to say,

“3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.”

This land of promise that I choose to dwell in brings victory and peace in the midst of chaos and sin. This land of the Spirit will bring hope to those who find it. Just as God opened the doors to the Americas many years ago, the people came with the hope of freedom to worship the Almighty. If you seek, you can see this land opening before you and no man can take that revelation away.

“4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. 5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. 6 And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.”

Delight in the Hebrew is anag. It means soft and pliable in this Psalm. It also means to be of dainty habit, be pampered, to be happy about, take exquisite delight, to make merry over, or make sport of.

How does this relate to you? Simply be pliable or moldable in the hands of the Lord. Don’t be hardened by the sin and hatred of this world. Let your Creator make you into what He desires for you to be. Your Father in heaven wants the best for you. He wants you to stand out and shine in the darkness. He wants you to commit yourself to His wisdom and care. Afterall, His very breath sustains your life daily. He knows what is best for you. He cares for you. His plans are for you. He wants to shine forth His righteousness upon you. He wants to bring forth His light in the middle of the darkest of nights for you.

“7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.”

You must remind yourself that God did not let the children of Israel go hungry, unsheltered, or unclothed as they wandered in the wilderness for forty years. He provided. He is still providing. We are the ones with the issues. Get past yourself. Get past the limitations of your mind. Get past those prospering in evil, in their sin, in their deception. YOU, child of God reading this text, REST IN THE LORD!

Once you’ve basked in the love of your Maker, share that love with the hopeless. If you lose sight of your mission, you lose out. Souls are what matter, not social status or egos. Souls. Lost and dying souls matter. You must rescue the perishing which are bound for destruction without the salvation provided by the love of Jesus.

To affect others, you must decide in what land you will dwell. Will it be the land of the flesh or the land of the Spirit? Where will you make your abode this side of heaven?

My desire is to be with the saints of God. The only way this will happen is if I choose to dwell in the promised land. In the natural, we live in different parts of the world; we face varying circumstances, but it is the same evil, the same sin. However, when we dwell where God provides, we are together in His care and His peace and His victory.

Do you want to rise above this world or are you okay with the evil around you? My prayer is that you fret not, but dwell in the promises of God.

I pray that God richly blesses you in whatever endeavor you find to raise funds for this March World Mission drive. All your efforts are much needed and appreciated. The fields are calling for laborers. Do what you can so that we may go to the regions beyond and bring them to the land of promise!
