Youth Ministry
The Victory Leaders Band is the youth department within The Church of God. Our desire is to encourage young people ages 12-35—tweens, teens, young adult, and young marrieds. We are organized into a band for regular prayer meetings, Bible studies and Christian service endeavors. This is with the purpose of evangelizing our youth and making them disciples. Our youth department has a few other goals as well:
Raising funds for the printing of our gospel tracts. We call our gospel tracts “Outreach Literature”—we want to reach out into this world with the message of Jesus Christ. “The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it” (Psalms 68:11).
Operate Gleaner Bands. As our youth department reaches such a wide span of ages, which includes young married couples, we don’t want to leave out their children—ages 2-11. We want to make sure we teach them the doctrines of the Bible through Scripture memorization, action songs and activities while they are young. Remember, the seed that is planted in the heart of the child today will not be soon forgotten tomorrow. Our goal is for our children to “glean” as much “good seed” from the Word as possible.
Conduct annual Youth Camps for youth and children to meet Christ, to inspire those who already know Jesus as their personal Saviour into a richer, deeper fellowship, and to provide Christian training. The Camping Ministry is vital. It is a time of rebirth, renewal and reawakening for young people each year. It is a place to slow down and let the soul’s growth catch up with the body’s growth. Camp is a special time of reaching out and touching God!
Children’s Ministry
The Children’s Ministries Department of The Church of God is committed to developing leaders who have a spiritual impact on the lives of children around the world. Often, our children’s ministries conduct weekly Children’s Church services during “adult” morning worship services to convey the gospel message in a way that is inspiring and age appropriate. We want each child to know that they are valuable and important to God and the Church. The Scripture admonishes us to “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6). We must instill the values and principles of the Word of God continually to our children. Training is not a one-time event, but is a daily pursuit of inspiring the lives of the little ones God has entrusted into our care.
Women’s Ministry
The Women’s Missionary Band is the ladies’ ministry within The Church of God. It is imperative that we get the whole message to the whole world. Even though we may not be able to physically be the one to go across the sea or state we must do all within our power to see that the funds are there for others to do so.
Our ladies’ ministries has the following goals:
To raise mission offerings to support both home and world missions,
To conduct monthly prayer band meetings,
To conduct Ladies’ Retreats/Ladies’ Days to encourage fellowship both with our Lord and Saviour as well as with other ladies,
To establish Dorcas Club meetings. The Book of Acts tells us that Dorcas “…was full of good works and almsdeeds…” (9:36). Later in this passage we find that Dorcas made coats and garments. It is clear that Dorcas typifies the Proverbs 31 woman—industrious, helpful and doing good every where she went. Our Dorcas Club meetings are conducted in a variety of ways, with the same purpose of working for the Lord using whatever talent He has given to raise funds for missions around the world.
Group Ministry
The word Assembly means a group of people gathered together. Band means a group of people united working toward a specific goal. Movement means action of a group of persons. When these words are put together they define for us the goal of the Assembly Band Movement: An organized group of people, moving in unity toward a specific goal. What is the goal of the Assembly Band Movement? Colossians 1:28 can answer that question, “Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.”
The Spirit of the ABM cries out for members to be taught the Word of God, encouraged in their walk with Christ, cared for in times of need, as we all strive to come into the, “...unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ” (Ephesians 4:13).
