“BLOW ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the Lord cometh, for it is nigh at hand”
(Joel 2:1).
Being new to this work, as the General CPMA Coordinator, I deeply desire your prayers. I want God’s will in directing us this year. I will be leaning on our regional and local CPMA leaders to continue to sound the alarm. The Church of God is still here, alive and well. She is continuing to function as She always has.
If ever there was a time to sound an alarm, it is now. The world, as we know, is constantly changing and it is up to us to keep the Church before them.
As we go into this year, we have a lot of work ahead of us and we have to hit the ground running. Many are in new roles and have new responsibilities this year. Much prayer is going to be needed to seek out the direction of the Lord and work the new fields of labor as He sees fit. I thank God for the laborers we have and look forward to this year’s work.
As we sound the alarm, the above scripture points out as a matter of fact that the Lord is coming soon, “...let all the inhabitants of the land tremble, for the day of the Lord cometh, for it is nigh at hand.” We have no choice in the matter, if we truly sound the alarm, all the inhabitants of the land will tremble and the power of God will be revealed.
God wants us to sound the alarm and warn all we can before it is too late. As I write this article, something keeps coming to my mind that goes along with sounding the alarm in order for the people to hear:
“Remove not the old landmark; and enter not into the fields of the fatherless: For their redeemer is mighty; he shall plead their cause with thee. Apply thine heart unto instruction, and thine ears to the words of knowledge”
(Proverbs 23:10-12).
The first group of scriptures tell of those who hear what is said and by receiving the Word of the Lord, the people will trust with all their heart and gain understanding. In doing so, the people will be happy and find wisdom.
The second group of scriptures start out with a command to not remove the old landmark. We have a firm foundation in which to sound off and we need to hold to those things that have gone before us and have been proven by those who have already come this way. Many old landmarks, once under the Church, have been done away with and lost for now. We cannot repeat these mistakes. We need to honor what God has done for the Church and maintain what He has given us.
I am very excited about our Church heritage and history and take this new appointment very seriously. I want to help preserve the Church in the mind of our people and all those who will come behind us. We each have a great responsibility. We all need to do what we have been called to do. We must fully give ourselves to God as He uses every part of the Church to further the gospel and keep all that is committed.
Church, we must work the work that is set before us while we can, so let us “Sound the alarm!”
