True Worship in the 112th General Assembly

“But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him” (John 4:23).

The 112th General Assembly of The Church of God came to a close on Sunday, September 3rd. A spirit of unity and love like no other prevailed throughout our time together. Many voices, many personalities, many walks of life, agreed to preserve the “unity of the brethren.”

The Spirit impressed upon Bishop Alexander Jackson, Sr., General Overseer, to point the Church towards “True Worship.” The Spirit also told the delegation that He was there and waiting for such worship. Countless times throughout the week, many voices were raised and knees were bowed to worship and surely the Father’s presence was felt in response.

Each prayer, song, message, and special program set a stage for the work this new Church year. The membership was encouraged repeatedly to examine themselves in order to approach the throne of God in both spirit and truth. There is much work still to be done, but with this spirit (His Spirit), the Church can press towards completing Her task this year.

In the coming days and weeks more updates and content from the 112th General Assembly will appear here on The Church of God Online. An appointment page is being developed to keep the membership up to date on the leadership roles for this coming year. An audio interview series entitled “Voices of the Ministry” will also debut this year. This series contains short, in the moment interviews with our National Overseers from around the world. May God bless The Church of God and the work this year!
